The heart of psychotherapy is a dialogue. My role is to listen, witness, ask questions, clarify and give feedback. It is not my job to judge or criticize you. My aim is to support you to make sense of what may be troubling you and to find ways of changing and redirecting unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving.

In counselling and psychotherapy we look at your relationship with yourself; whether you are critical or compassionate, how you hold your boundaries, your ability to nurture yourself.

Each person is unique and so I adjust my pace and way of working to what you as an individual need.

“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”

Carl Rogers.

My experience as a psychotherapist

I trained with the Spectrum Centre for Psychotherapy in North London and gained accreditation from the UKCP. At Spectrum I became a staff member, responsible for aspects of running the centre, and taught on the centre’s psychotherapy and counselling training courses. I was also a member of the Incest Intervention Project. I went on to become a supervisor of psychotherapists.

I work as a Humanistic therapist drawing on different therapeutic approaches including Gestalt and Formative Psychology, the work of Stanley Keleman. I am interested in Polyvagal Theory and healing through somatic responses to anxiety and depression.

Before training as a psychotherapist I worked in early years care, as a teacher in further education and a trainer on equality and diversity for a local authority in London.
